Lansingerland is a municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. It is located on the north bank of the Nieuwe Maas river, opposite the city of Rotterdam. The municipality was created in 2002 by the merger of the former municipalities of Bergschenhoek, Berkel en Rodenrijs, and Bleiswijk. Lansingerland is a popular residential area for people working in Rotterdam and The Hague. The municipality has a rich history, dating back to the Middle Ages. The area was originally part of the County of Holland, and was later ruled by the Dukes of Burgundy and the Habsburgs. In the 16th century, the area became part of the Dutch Republic. Lansingerland is home to a number of historical buildings, including the 14th-century Bergschenhoek Castle and the 17th-century Rodenrijs Church. The municipality also has a number of parks and nature reserves, making it a popular destination for recreation and relaxation.
