Capelle aan den IJssel is a city and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. It is located on the Hollandse IJssel river, close to Rotterdam, and has a population of around 65,000. Capelle aan den IJssel is a relatively young city, having been founded in 1818. However, it has a long history dating back to the Middle Ages, when it was a small fishing village. In the 19th century, Capelle aan den IJssel became an important industrial center, with many factories and shipyards. Today, Capelle aan den IJssel is a thriving city with a diverse population and a strong economy. The city is home to many businesses, including the headquarters of the multinational company Unilever. Capelle aan den IJssel is also a popular tourist destination, with many attractions, including the Capelse Plas, a large recreational lake, and the Museum Capelle, which tells the story of the city's history.
