Hajdúböszörmény is a city in Hajdú-Bihar County, Eastern Hungary. It is located in the northern part of the Great Hungarian Plain, 20 km northwest of Debrecen and 230 km east of Budapest. The city has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. It was first mentioned in 1154 as Bozormenye. The city was destroyed by the Mongols in 1241 but was rebuilt in the 13th century. It was granted town rights in 1452. In the 16th century, Hajdúböszörmény became a center of the Protestant Reformation. The city was occupied by the Ottomans from 1592 to 1682. After the Ottomans were expelled, Hajdúböszörmény became a free royal city. In the 19th century, the city became an important center of agriculture and trade. Hajdúböszörmény is home to several historical and cultural attractions, including the Reformed Church, the Town Hall, and the Hajdúböszörmény Museum.
