Jōetsu is a city located in Niigata Prefecture, on the coast of the Sea of Japan. It is the second-largest city in the prefecture, after Niigata City. The city has a population of about 200,000 people and is known for its beautiful scenery and its many hot springs. Jōetsu is also home to a number of historical sites, including the ruins of Takada Castle, which was built in the 16th century. The city is also known for its delicious seafood and its many festivals, including the Jōetsu Fireworks Festival, which is held every summer.
