Lehrtes is a town in the Hanover Region, Lower Saxony, Germany. It is the home of the largest sugar factory in Europe. The town is located on the Mittelland Canal and is a popular tourist destination. The town has a rich history, dating back to the 12th century. It was once a fortified town, and the ruins of the old town wall can still be seen today. Lehrte is also home to a number of historical buildings, including the Town Hall, the Church of St. Peter and Paul, and the Old Cemetery. The town is also home to a number of museums, including the Lehrte Museum and the Zuckermuseum.
