Slavonski Brod is a city in eastern Croatia, situated on the banks of the Sava River. It is the administrative center of the Brod-Posavina County. The city has a rich history, dating back to the Roman Empire. It was first mentioned in 1244 as Brod na Savi. In the 16th century, it was conquered by the Ottoman Turks and remained under their rule for nearly two centuries. After the liberation from the Ottoman rule, Slavonski Brod became part of the Habsburg monarchy. In the 19th century, it became a major industrial center. Today, Slavonski Brod is a modern city with a population of around 60,000 people. It is an important economic and cultural center of eastern Croatia. The city is home to several museums, galleries, and theaters. It is also a popular tourist destination, thanks to its beautiful architecture and its proximity to the Pannonian Plain.
