Sosnovy Bor is a closed city in Leningrad Oblast, Russia, located on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland, about 80 kilometers west of Saint Petersburg. The city is home to the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, which provides about 30% of the electricity consumed in Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast. Sosnovy Bor was founded in 1973 as a closed city to house the workers at the nuclear power plant. The city has a population of about 65,000 people and is known for its beautiful natural surroundings, including forests, lakes, and rivers.
