Zwijndrecht is a city and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. It is located on the River Beneden-Merwede, which connects the Rhine and Meuse rivers. The city's name is derived from the Old Dutch words "zwijn" (pig) and "drecht" (crossing), and refers to a historical ferry crossing where pigs were transported across the river.
